Welcome to MemuniCity ("MemuniCity", "we", "our", or "us"). We operate an online marketplace that enables residents of activated apartment societies, streets and neighbourhoods to buy and sell products and services with their neighbours.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices available to you.
By using MemuniCity, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Who We Are
MemuniCity is a marketplace platform that connects residents of apartment societies, streets and neighbourhoods. We facilitate listings, payments, communication, and support services, but individual goods and services are offered by independent sellers.
2. Information We Collect
A. Account Information
When you create an account, we may collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Password (stored only as a secure hash)
- Google account information (if using Google sign-in)
Email verification is required before accessing the platform.
B. Phone Verification Information
To enable transactions, we collect:
- Mobile phone number
- Verification status
- OTP verification records
Phone verification is performed through SMS-based one-time passwords.
C. Residential Information
During onboarding, we collect:
- Apartment society or street
- Flat or house number
Your flat number may be visible to users with whom you transact.
D. Profile Information
You may optionally provide:
- Profile photograph
- Biography
- Website links
Profile images may be publicly visible.
E. Seller KYC Information
Users applying to become sellers may provide:
- Full address
- Bank account details
- Account holder name
- IFSC code
- PAN number
- Aadhaar number
- Images of PAN and Aadhaar documents
PAN and Aadhaar images are stored securely in private cloud storage and are accessible only to authorized administrators during review.
PAN and Aadhaar numbers are not publicly displayed or shared with other users.
F. Listings and Uploaded Content
We collect information relating to product listings, service listings, prices, descriptions, categories, images, and availability settings.
Listing pages may be publicly accessible and viewable even by visitors who are not signed in.
G. Transaction Information
When purchases occur, we collect order details, payment references, refund records, subscription records, dispute information, and delivery confirmation information.
MemuniCity does not store card numbers, UPI credentials, or other payment instrument details.
H. Communications
We store buyer-seller chat messages, automated system notices, support tickets, customer support conversations, and internal support notes.
I. Reviews and Ratings
We collect star ratings, comments, likes and dislikes, and reputation information. These may be publicly visible on profiles and listings.
J. Technical Information
We may collect IP address, browser information, device information, user-agent details, login activity, terms acceptance records, and timestamps.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use information to:
- Create and maintain your account.
- Verify your identity.
- Enable purchases and seller onboarding.
- Process transactions.
- Facilitate payments and refunds.
- Provide customer support.
- Enable messaging between buyers and sellers.
- Prevent fraud and abuse.
- Maintain security.
- Comply with legal obligations.
- Investigate disputes.
- Improve platform functionality.
- Send transactional notifications.
4. Payments
Payments are processed through Cashfree.
MemuniCity does not store debit card numbers, credit card numbers, CVV information, UPI PINs, or banking passwords.
Payment information is handled directly by Cashfree according to its own privacy practices.
5. Third-Party Service Providers
We use trusted service providers to operate the platform.
Cashfree โ used for payment processing, seller settlements, refund processing, and subscription payments.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) โ used for hosting, database infrastructure, image storage, email delivery, and SMS delivery.
Google โ used for optional Google sign-in.
These service providers process information on our behalf and are required to maintain appropriate safeguards.
6. Communications
We may send:
- Email notifications โ email verification, transaction confirmations, order updates, and support responses.
- SMS messages โ OTP verification codes.
- In-app notifications โ order events, chat notifications, and refund updates.
These communications are necessary for providing our services.
7. Public Information
The following information may be visible to other users:
- Name
- Profile photo
- Reviews and ratings
- Listing information
- Seller profile information
- Flat number (to transaction counterparties)
- Chat messages exchanged with another user
Listing pages may also be visible to the public.
Sensitive information such as PAN numbers, Aadhaar numbers, bank account details, passwords, and KYC document images are never intentionally displayed publicly.
8. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information. Measures include:
- Password hashing
- Restricted access controls
- Private storage for KYC documents
- Time-limited access links for sensitive files
- Server-side payment verification
- Fraud-prevention mechanisms
Despite our efforts, no system can guarantee absolute security.
9. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide our services, maintain records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations.
Unverified accounts that remain unverified for more than 30 days may be automatically deleted.
Visit-analytics records (including raw IP addresses) are deleted automatically after 90 days.
Transaction, support, and dispute records may be retained for longer periods where required by law or operational necessity.
10. Customer Support Access
Authorized support personnel and administrators may access account information, orders, support tickets, and chat content when necessary to resolve issues, investigate disputes, provide customer assistance, and protect the platform and its users.
Support staff do not have the ability to log into user accounts as those users.
11. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We may use cookies and similar technologies to maintain sessions, remember preferences, improve functionality, enhance security, and analyze usage patterns.
You may disable cookies through your browser settings, although some features may not function properly.
12. Children's Privacy
MemuniCity is intended for individuals who are legally capable of entering into binding agreements. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate legal authorization.
13. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access your information, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion of certain information, withdraw consent where applicable, and raise concerns regarding data handling.
Certain records may be retained where required for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, or regulatory purposes.
14. Disclosure of Information
We may disclose information:
- To payment processors and infrastructure providers;
- To comply with legal obligations;
- To protect rights and safety;
- To investigate fraud or misuse;
- During mergers, acquisitions, or restructuring events;
- With your consent.
We do not sell your personal information.
15. Cross-Border Processing
Some service providers may process or store information in jurisdictions outside your location. Appropriate safeguards will be implemented where required by applicable law.
16. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When material changes are made, we may notify users through email, website notices, or in-app notifications.
Continued use of MemuniCity after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
