Chembur Durga Puja Association Durgotsav 2026

The Chembur Durga Puja Association (CDPA), founded in 1954, stages one of Mumbai's oldest and largest Durga Puja celebrations at Jawahar Ground, drawing over two lakh devotees across its five festive days. Now in its 72nd year, CDPA is known for elaborate, ever-changing pandal decor and theme-based artistry sourced from craftspeople across West Bengal - past editions have showcased Pingla scroll-painting traditions and other regional folk-art forms rebuilt at scale inside the pandal. Beyond the daily Durga puja, aarti and bhog, the association runs cultural programmes, competitions and community events through Shashthi to Vijaya Dashami, culminating in the immersion procession, with a Lakshmi Puja following a few days after Dashami. It remains a major gathering point for Mumbai's Bengali diaspora and a landmark cultural fixture for the wider Chembur neighbourhood.
