Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav 2026

Hyderabad's most iconic Ganesh Chaturthi celebration returns to Khairatabad for another year, organised by the Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Committee under chairman Saingari Raj Kumar. The 2026 idol depicts the Panchamukha Sankatahara Maha Ganapati, a five-faced form of Lord Ganesha believed to remove obstacles, standing 69 feet tall with a 15-foot Somnath Jyothirlinga on one side and a Kalika Mata idol on the other. Around 150 artisans work for roughly 80 days using eco-friendly materials — clay, steel, dry grass, rice husk and wood sourced from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu — continuing sculptor Chinnaswamy Rajendran's nearly four-decade association with the idol. Construction begins after the traditional Karra Puja ritual and the idol is unveiled a few days before Ganesh Chaturthi, drawing huge crowds through the ten-day Ganeshotsav to the immersion procession on Anant Chaturdashi.
