Dastangoi

Vartalaap presents a special Dastangoi evening -- the centuries-old Urdu oral storytelling art -- bringing acclaimed Dastangos Sunil Mehra and Pallav Mishra to Nagpur from Delhi. The duo brings to life two celebrated short stories by legendary Urdu writer Ismat Chughtai, "Gharwali" and "Mughal Baccha," through the dramatic spoken-word tradition of dastangoi. Sunil Mehra is a well-known commentator on arts, culture and politics; Pallav Mishra is a poet, writer, performer and Urdu scholar associated with Rekhta, India's leading platform for Urdu literature. Billed as part of Vartalaap's mission to redefine Nagpur's cultural evenings, the program brings together storytelling, literature, music and conversation under one roof.
