Nayapalli Durga Puja (Bapuji Nagar)

The Nayapalli Durga Puja Samiti, an unbroken community tradition since 1988 centred on Bapuji Nagar, mounts one of Bhubaneswar's largest theme pandals every Durga Puja. In its most recent (2025) edition the committee built a 75-foot-high, 110-foot-wide pandal recreating the ambience of a South Indian temple, with about 45 Bengali and Odia artists reproducing Kerala's Kathakali dance tradition in painted panels, masks and fabric-and-paper deities, backed by roughly 300 security personnel and 50 CCTV cameras.
