Chauliaganj Chandi Medha – Durga Puja

Chauliaganj's Durga mandap — part of a temple complex that also houses Shiva and Hanuman shrines — is one of Cuttack's tarakasi strongholds, where more than 150 silver-filigree artisans work through the run-up to Puja to dress the goddess in an elaborate chandi medha backdrop and a gold crown, part of the wider gold-ornamentation trend among the city's oldest committees. Chauliaganj's signature tradition is its Mahanavami prasad: the committee distributes macha bhoga (fish curry) to around 5,000 devotees, a distinctively Cuttack touch that draws crowds well beyond the immediate neighbourhood.
