Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi Temple Navratri

Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi Ammavari Devasthanam in Burujupeta -- revered as Visakhapatnam's presiding deity and long patronised by the city's erstwhile ruling family -- marks Sharadiya Navratri from October 11 to 20, 2026 with ten days of special alankarams (ornamental adornments), abhishekams and devotional programs, each day dedicated to a different form of the Goddess, opening with a Kanaka Mahalakshmi alankaram and closing around Vijayadashami. The temple, whose idol tradition traces back to a discovery in a well near an old fort, draws large crowds of devotees and pilgrims from across Andhra Pradesh throughout the festival, with special darshan available for a nominal fee.
