Dhammachakra Pravartan Din 2026

Nagpur's largest annual gathering, commemorating the day in 1956 when Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, architect of India's Constitution, led a mass conversion of several hundred thousand followers to Buddhism at Deekshabhoomi. Every October, lakhs of Ambedkarite Buddhist pilgrims from across India converge on this South Ambazari Road memorial — modelled on Emperor Ashoka's stupa at Sanchi and among the largest stupas in Asia — for mega programmes of teachings on the Panchasila and the Eightfold Path, alongside prayers and cultural events organized by the Param Poojya Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti with civic arrangements from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation.
