India's first international marathon, established in 1983, the Pune International Marathon returns for its 2026 edition on Sunday, December 6, starting and finishing at Baburao Sanas Sports Ground, Saras Baug. Recognised by the Athletics Federation of India as a National Marathon Championship race and once host to the 2010 Asian Marathon Championship, the event offers 13 categories from the full 42.195km marathon down to short youth and wheelchair races, drawing runners from across India and abroad while raising funds for causes such as HIV/AIDS awareness.
