Hindustani Violin Concert by N Rajam

A rare Kochi appearance by Padma Vibhushan violinist Dr. N. Rajam, one of Hindustani classical music's most celebrated exponents, presented as part of an Independence Day music festival by the century-old Sree Poornathrayeesa Sangeetha Sabha of Thripunithura. Dr. Rajam, known for her vocal-style "gayaki ang" violin technique, will be accompanied by fellow violinist Ragini Shankar and tabla player Saurabh Kardikar for an evening of ragas in an intimate concert-hall setting. The Sabha has run classical music programming in Thripunithura for decades, making this one of the more serious classical-music fixtures on the local Onam-season calendar rather than a one-off ticketed gig.
